The function you have requested cannot be performed

Please notice the attached error message containing screenshot carefully. It is saying,

The function you have requested cannot be performed because another program already has control of the device.

If the program currently using the device, save any unsaved work, close the program, and try again. 

Although I uninstalled and installed the printer software several times, the above error message doesn’t disappear.

Can you suggest me how to solve this?

The function you have requested cannot be performed

Hi,

I am guessing you have a HP Printer because they're famous for such type of errors. The issue arises because of certain improper SNMP settings. Complete the steps given below to solve the issue.

1. First input the printers IP address in the address bar of your web browser. Then go to Device Settings – Network settings – Network configuration.

2. Under Enabled features find Password = Not specified and also that SNMP = Enabled.

With these check these settings too.

Status:Read write access.

SNMP Version-v1.

Community Name should not be set because default is public.

3. Now restart your computer and the printer and try again.

Hopefully it should solve your problem.
