I am currently using Windows XP and need to migrate to Windows 7. However, I have skipped the Windows Vista update. Is there any way to transfer files and settings to 7?

You can use ‘Windows easy transfer.’ Install the application your Windows 7 machine and open it. From the welcome screen that appears, select ‘USB Flash Drive’ option for migration. Go through a set of questions and answer accordingly.

Please select the appropriate option in each dialogue box. Now go to your old XP machine and install the same application on it. Run this application and copy all the files and settings that you want. Connect this USB to your Windows 7 machine and reload the USB data. This will enable you to restore your previous settings. Wait for the files to transfer.
