Hello,

SUWIN caused a General protection Fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:4E7

The above error normally occurs when you try to install Windows millennium edition on a computer that has Windows Media Player 9 installed on it.

To resolve this issue you need to use ms dos emergency disk to rename windows media player files and retrieve windows media player to version 7.

Click hear for step by step procedure https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/888555

After you install windows ME you can upgrade to windows media player 9.

Thank you.

If you have Windows Millennium and you want to install VirtualBox, unfortunately, suggesting to install the latest version is not possible because the operating system is way too old and not compatible. The latest version of VirtualBox at the moment, VirtualBox 6.1.16, supports 64-bit Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019.

I tried looking for a version of VirtualBox that supports Windows Millennium host but unfortunately, I cannot find one. On the other hand, if you want to install Windows Millennium as guest on VirtualBox, make sure the virtual hard drive is formatted with FAT32 file system because this is the supported file system. It doesn’t support FAT.

To install Windows ME as guest, you need to create an ISO file of your Windows ME setup CD and load it to your virtual machine’s virtual drive. From there, it should install the operating system. For users with compatible host operating systems, download the latest from the VirtualBox download page.
