“RPC” stands for “Remote Procedure Call” or the Microsoft Remote Procedure Call. It is compatible with the Open Software Foundation design or OSF and interoperable with other Data Communications Exchange standards or DCE. RPCs are industry standard Interprocess Communication or IPC mechanisms for client-server communications that are network independent and can work on a variety of network protocols.

It uses IPC mechanisms to establish or setup communications between the client and the server to call program functions on a remote computer. The complex applications that use this level of service require that there be a connection or level of throughput to sufficiently deliver or provide this functionality.

One example is when you are using Microsoft Exchange Server; there should be a connection to reliably keep the flow of data. Error code “0x800706C2” is a Microsoft error code which means “The transfer syntax is not supported by the RPC server” which results to using RPC. One possible reason of getting this error is a slow internet connection or slow network connectivity.

Since this error points to your network connection, check if your internet connection is working. Open a web browser and visit a website then try clicking some links. Verify that you have a working internet connection. If this doesn’t work, try troubleshooting your connection. Disconnect the network cable from the network port at the back of the CPU then connect it back.

See if this works. If this doesn’t work, disconnect the other end of the cable from the Wi-Fi router then connect it back. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, restart the router. If the router has a power button, press it to turn it off then unplug it from the power for about ten to twenty seconds (10 – 20 seconds).

Press any button on the router to drain any leftover power or to power cycle. After this, plug the router back to the power and turn it on. See if this works. If the problem continues, contact your Internet Service Provider.
