Windows Media Player error 8004022F ?

I have a problem with my Windows Media Player, whenever I try to play a video of . avi format or .mkv format then there come an error 8004022F"Cannot play back the video stream: no suitable decompressor could be found.", I am fed up of this and want to get this rectified, my operating system is Microsoft Vista Ultimate Edition.

Windows Media Player error 8004022F ?

Look into the conditions:

1. You are trying to play a file format or the codec which is not supported by Windows Media Player
2. One or more Windows Media Player files are lost or corrupted
3. You are using a damaged media file
4. You are using a remote Desktop and it is not configured to play Video.

Windows Media Player error 8004022F ?

Yes I too think that my video file must be damaged or else my player doesn’t support the file format, so what should I do to correct this problem?

Windows Media Player error 8004022F ?

Important Windows Media Player does not support the playback of every type of media file available currently. However, Windows Media Player does provide support for the most common types of media files.

the media files supported by Windows media player are :

Windows Media Format : (.asf,.wma,.wmv,.wm)

as you are facing problems with your .avi files this is the solution:

Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a special case of Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF). AVI is defined by Microsoft. The .avi file format is the most common format for audio and video data on a computer.

Audio content or video content that is compressed with a wide variety of codecs can be stored in an .avi file and played in Windows Media Player, if the appropriate codecs are installed on the computer. Video codecs that are frequently used in .avi files include the following codecs:

• DV codec

Download all the codecs from the above websites and for the.mkv issue you should use VLC player or Gomes player because such high media formats are supported by such players.
