Windows Live Photo Gallery encountered an error and cannot start.

I am using Win7 Pro 32bit with SP1 and all updates are installed.

Whenever I try to open Windows Live Photo Gallery , this message will appear:

“Windows Live Photo Gallery encountered an error and cannot start.

Error code 0x80070002”

I have the latest version of WLPG. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and the repair option. The Microsoft Fix it says it succeeded, but the problem still persist. The strange thing is that when I open My Pictures then open a folder and select a picture it opens in WLPG, but if I then click on Edit, the program crashes.

If anyone can tell me how to fix this problem I would be very grateful.

Hi William! Has this always been this way?

Since you have already tried the repair option and Microsoft Fix it as well, then here is what I can suggest you try.

It is possible that there may be some components that are corrupted or missing.

Try doing an offline install, here is the link: Install any essentials that you might need aside from windows live photo gallery. Getting the latest windows update might also resolve the problem that you are currently experiencing with windows live photo gallery.

If WLPG was working properly before or if this is just a recent issue that you noticed.

Then I would suggest to try doing a system restore and restore your computer to a date that you recall that WLPG was working.

Hello,

I suppose following the given methods might resolve the problem.

1. Re-install the files and check if it works.

2. Also install WL Movie maker and photo gallery along with other applications that you require.

3. Ensure that there are no compatibility issues.

4. Ensure that the windows is updated, if not install windows update.

5. If you have multiple users to sign in, then log in from other user and check if problem continues.

6. If the problem persists create new user and then try to launch tha application.
