Hi Guys,

In an attempt to import files from a network share to movie maker, I am stuck with a weird error. I am currently using a Windows XP Sp2 operating system. The error message that appears is displayed below.

Files can’t be added directly from a network folder into movie maker. Copy the files to your computer, and then try again”

If you are unable to copy files directly to windows movie maker from your computer then you have to run REGEDIT and then have to go to HKEY_USERS/random string/Microsoft/windows/ movie maker. When you will complete all these tasks then you have to go to have to add one value called as Allow Network files providing value as 1. After completing whole procedure you will be able to copy files.

Hello Abram,

You need to download "Allow Movie Maker Access Files Network" first and then right click on the downloaded registry file and select merge. That's it, reboot and run the movie maker again.

Thanks

Super comments from both of you. You’re my new friends. Woods Tunde: really, I was very worried about my weird problem. Utilizing your system, I am now capable of fixing my problem and I have also applied your solution to copy my files. The problem is gone.
