I own a relatively old laptop. It has been working fine for several years. Since the past few days, whenever I start my laptop, as soon as the desktop appears, it throws the windows host process rundll32 has stopped working windows 7 fix error box. The error box appears every time I start the laptop. Is there a way to fix this?

The Windows host process rundll32 has stopped working error often occurs when the rundll32 is not working properly. Rundll32 is the part of Windows which is responsible for running the 32-bit dll files on Windows 7. The rundll32 needs to work properly to enable other programs to work. This error usually occurs when rundll32 is corrupted or not working properly.

There are several tricks that you can try to remove this error box. None of these are solutions per se but are OS tricks that change the OS settings that might solve the problem automatically. Try to change your folder view settings from the control panel and then restart your computer. In many cases, simply doing this solves the problem. If this does not work, try to restore your computer to a previous state when the error box did not come up on starting your computer.
