In Windows 7, the game still runs after closing it

I have a computer that is running on Windows 7 and it has a problem that I am unable to do away with. I started a particular game and then closed it. But the weird thing is that even after rebooting it, the computer thinks that the game is still running. I don’t understand this. I have tried several things but none of it has solved the problem. I am now desperate for your help.

You might have the set the game to launch automatically when the computer starts and that is why even after you have restarted the computer the game appears to be still running. What you will need to do is to change the quick launch settings so that game is one of the applications listed in the quick launch.

You may also just close the game from the task manager if you cannot be able to access it from the desktop.

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the task manager.
  • In the task manager window click on the processes tab.
  • And the look for the game among the processes and end it.

That way, the application will not take up system memory which may lead to slowness of the computer.

You're right. The game launches automatically. I followed the steps you gave to disable this. And now, the problem never arises. Thank you very much Lee Seen! Your solution is very helpful. Many thanks TechyV!
