Only in Vista and Win7 am I getting the error -5001 : 0x80070002 in the following scenario:

1. Product installation.
2. Product uninstallation.
3. Windows log-off for system.
4. With the same user account to log-in to windows —à.

During login to Windows install Shield Error pops up.(Attachment has the screen shot).

After searching the internet, I know now that it maybe is because of a lost installation file but I can’t find out which one.

Windows update has been applied, and I also tried ISClear tool. I also tried to remove UAC (User Account Control) but without results.

This error code usually happens after downloading and installing windows update. Some windows update might do more harm than good, ironic right? I’m not saying that you should stop getting downloading updates, its just that some of the updates might be the in conflict with any software that you have installed on your system.

There are even computer manufacturers that would tell you to only download windows updates that are categorized as important or critical. But then again, you installed a software before the windows update so it might not really be the windows update that is causing this.

I would recommend running system restore and restore your computer to an earlier date. If not you can also try booting from the original cd and choose “Repair. ”

Hope this helps.
