On numerous sites about learning  python I have encountered sentences saying that python should be learned by those who want to do scientific calculations or something similar. What makes python as a programming language a better tool for science than the other programming languages?

Python has a precise and efficient syntax which is adapted by data scientists. So this language is called tool for data scientists. Pythons has the good  REPL. In python new modules can be explored from REPL. This is the reason preferred by data scientists to prefer python over any other languages like C, C++, Java etc.

Python community created an extension to support numeric analysis similar as Matlab does. Matlab is very useful application for the scientists. So extension in pythons helps a lot for them. This extension was created by Python community in min-1990. At that time there was no other language which has this features. So from that time scientists started using python language. And it’s really difficult at this point to change from python to another language. So python became their first choice.
