Select New Advanced Material Template instead of choosing the templates provided in the Material Menu.
Unfortunately, Flamingo nxt 2012 currently has some bug and flaws. Many users have complained about templates not being compatible with the current version. Also, make sure that the templates you are trying to use compatible with Flamingo nxt 2012.

It is possible that some of the data files in your application is corrupted. Corrupted data can happen in an OS environment that’s not fully and regularly maintained. I would also suggest a clean uninstall the application and then install it again, just make sure that the application is compatible to the OS environment you are running.
