I know that it is almost not possible to gain the answer of the above mentioned question but the thing is that I ant to know. Google's Chrome OS is based on Linux and so is Steam OS. Upon which OS is the Apple's iOS based upon? Can iOS be updated in all iPhones till date? Only answer if you have enough experience or knowledge.

iOS is developed by Apple for their smartphones. Their first successful OS is Mac OS, and the latest iOS is developed on it. Mac OS X is built on Linux, and so is iOS.
Mac OS X is developed by Linux and so its file systems are defined like “/home/” etc. Though this is modified version of Linux, it’s based on Linux eventually. Like Android, iOS also works with Linux environment with awesome graphics and features.
Apple doesn't recommend to update iOS unless it's necessary. Because of some issue, it's not recommended. Sometimes, it makes trouble and sometimes, updated iOS doesn't work perfectly. Updating iOS is only allowed when it's urgent or fixes some serious issues.
