Yes you can use the new terminal services features for Windows XP 64 bit unless you have the following operating system
Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and please refer to this site for Windows XP 64 bit Server patch and you can download the rdp client KB925876 from the Microsoft website.

In case you want to install Terminal Services Client 6.0 of Microsoft desktop then you must have Windows XP x64 service pack 2. You can use this to connect to terminal servers or remote desktops running earlier versions of Windows not the new features. As you want to use the new facilities and features of terminal services then your remote computer must run Windows Vista or Windows Server Code Name "Longhorn".
