What is Windows Preinstallation Environment?

Hello,

Originally, Windows PE was used as a pre-installation platform for installing Windows operating systems.

The Windows Pre-installation Environment is a lightweight version of Windows, that is primarily used for the installing windows for the client computers.

In simply words windows PE is an operating system with limited functions and it is introduce as a substitute for DOS operating system.

Other than that Windows Pre-installation Environment provides recovery platform for windows.
