Hello Techyv Friends!

Have anyone tried using Sharepoint 2010 Express Database? Can anyone please tell me what Structured Query Language  or SQL databases are better suited for Sharepoint 2010? I am currently using MySQL and MYSQL. I am also familiar with Postgresql. Do you think these are compatible with Sharepoint? Have you tried using any of these databases with Sharepoint? How is your experience? Have you encountered any problems? Your comments are of great help.

Thanks!

Hi Amanda,

Sharepoint 2010 lets you do the following:

  • Set up the alerts for emails and SMS.
  • Customize your list views and column information
  • Access of Explorer views for simple file maintenance.

It requires Windows Server 2008 R2 and can be installed on Windows 7 and Vista Service Pack 2. Currently it includes single server built in database installation . It can work with the following Microsoft SQL database server:

  • SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) With Service Pack 1
  • SQL Server 2008 (64-bit) R2
  • SQL Server 2008 (64-bit) with Service Pack 1
  • SQL Server 2005 (64-bit) SP3

It is designed to simplify building and collaboration web sites with Microsoft connection. This makes competitive with other open-source software available in the market. You just make sure that you installed several pre-requisites and the installation process are quick and easy to follow.

Hope this aids in your inquiry.
