Hello guys,

I Only know Inmarsat gives you the best global coverage, and some advertisement claims they even provide services to governments and other well known agencies.

What other company satellite phone can be compared to Inmarsat satellite phone?

What other company satellite phone can be compared to inmarsat satellite phone?

Here is a list of other satellite phone companies.

 

1. ACeS – An operator providing voice and data services in East Asia.

 

2. Inmarsat – Founded in 1979, considered the oldest. Entered a joint venture with ACeS. The company operates eleven satellites. Available in most regions except polar regions.

 

3. Thuraya – Established in 1997, Thuraya’s has powerful satellites that allow communication on two-thirds of the world's population to communicate in areas unserved by terrestrial networks.

 

4. MSAT / SkyTerra – An American company that uses equipment similar to Inmarsat, but plans to launch a service using handheld devices in the Americas similar to Thuraya's.

 

5. Terrestar – North American satellite company.

 

6. ICO Global Communications – Launched a single geosynchronous satellite but not yet active.

 

7. Globalstar – A network covering most of the world's landmass using 44 active satellites; however many areas are left without coverage since a satellite must be in the range of an earth station. 

 

8. Iridium – Company that was re-established 2001.
