You already answered what is networking. Here I am just trying to provide some information for you.

  • LAN= Local Area Network.
  • MAN= Metropolitan Area Network.
  • WAN=Wide Area Network.

So that we use LAN when the covering area is small otherwise in the Metropolitan city we use MAN and If the area is big then we use Wide Area Network (WAN).

Networking means physically linking two or more computers (or computing devices) in order to share or exchange data. There are several categories of networking like LAN, MAN, WAN etc.

• LAN: Stands for Local Area Network. It offers connectivity to computers that are located nearby. For example computers at office building, school premises or in a home etc.

• WAN: stands for Wide Area Network. It connects several LANs distributed over a large geographical area. A router is a device that is used to connect the LANs to WAN.

• MAN is privately owned networked, typically owned and operated by government or large conglomerate.

Hello Md. Nuruzzaman,

Communication within communication devices depends on network. Therefore we can describe networking as the act of enabling communication devices such as computer to exchange data within one another. Networking can be categorized in three different categorizes depending on different geographical regions that it covers. These are:

  • Local Area Network.
  • Wide Area Network.
  • Metropolitan Area Network.

Networking within particular premises such as cyber cafes or news room is refers to as Local Area Network. Wide Area Network refers to networking within a wide region of a country such as more than two or three towns. On the other hand, Metropolitan Area Network refers to networking within a particular area of a country such as a town or a city.

Thanks.
