Hi.  I'm in search of an open source calendar server designed for the Apache Tomcat where I can run multiple calendars and has support for the IETF standard CalDAV protocol.  Can someone suggest an open source calendar server tomcat?  Thanks in advance.

Dear Eliza,

I suggest installing DAViCal server.

It is the leading source calendar solution that uses CalDAV as connection protocol. Its features include:

  • supports CardDAV and relies on PHP and PostgreSQL
  • backwards-compatible with WebDAV (if the client cannot talk CalDAV to the server, it can retrieve events on a Webfile server)
  • stores underlying iCalendar  event data in a PostgreSQL database
  • needs PHP 5.1 or higher to run
  • supports VTODO tasks, private events, and Free/Busy scheduling

For Apache Configuration when installing DAViCal, Click here Raistlin's blog.

This might help.

Good Luck!

Dear Eliza,

You can also use the Darwin Calendar Server which is open source and has modest package dependencies.

It is developed using python.

The features are as below:

1.    It supports CalDAV as the connection protocol.

2.    It has built-in SSL authentication.

3.    It is configurable to send email reminders through the IETF’s iMIP.

4.    It also can be used as a contacts server using CardDAV protocol.
