I have a Windows 10 PC. After I enter my login credentials, I get a blue screen of death along with an error code, 0x1000008e. Due to this, I am not able to use my computer. Can someone suggest me ways on how to fix this so I can use my system like how I used to?
This is a common bug check, so there is nothing to worry. Usually, you will be given a lot of information along with that screen. So make sure that the next time you try to log in and get the blue screen, to take down the details.
If a driver is mentioned in the message, disable it and check for driver updates. Make sure that you have enough disc.
Update your BIOS. Try changing your video adapters. Disable BIOS options like shadowing or caching. Remove all device drivers that was recently installed. Since the error occurs during the startup sequence and if you have an NTFS system, try starting in safe mode to delete or rename the faulty driver. Suppose if the driver is used in Safe mode, start your computer using the recovery console to access that file.
That blue screen error is directed to the file “afd.sys” which is related to network. In this case, try updating the driver for your network adapter. You can download an updated version, if there is any, on the manufacturer’s website. See the following list of computer manufacturers:
Enter your computer’s model number or serial number then click to search. You can find it printed on the sticker either on the side or bottom of your device. When your device is located, click your product to go to the download page. The page should detect your operating system automatically. If the page displays a different operating system, click to change then select your correct operating system.
Go to the driver download section or tab then download all necessary drivers for your computer especially the network adapter driver.
