Active Directory (AD) is developed for Windows domain networks by Microsoft. It was responsible for centralized management of domain initially. AD serves multiple directory services known as AD DS. It stores information of members and devices, verifies their credentials and access, etc. in Windows domain network. The other AD services are AD LDS, AD CS, AD FS, AD RMS, etc. which have their functions.
