My friends and I would need a little assistance concerning DDR2 and DDR3 cards. What are the significant features of DDR2 and DDR3? What are the functional components of both DDR2 and DDR3? What are the differences between DDR2 and DDR3? I am Fred Stephen living in Ghana. Thank you.

Hello,
DDR stands for ‘Double Data Rate’. The DDR2 and DDR3 are the further improvements of same technology of DDR RAM which was capable of 2 data transfers per clock cycle. Hence the significant features of DDR2 and DDR3 is data rate transfers. DDR2 is capable of 4 data transfers per clock cycle and DDR3 is capable of 8 data transfers per clock cycle.
The functional components of both are as follows:
1. DDR2 –
a. Internal Rate – 133-200 MHz
b. Bus Clock – 266-400 MHz
c. Prefetch – 4n
d. Data Rate – 533-800 MT/s
e. Transfer Rate – 4.2-6.4 GB/s
f. Voltage – 1.8 V

2. DDR3 –
a. Internal Rate – 133-200 MHz
b. Bus Clock – 533-800 MHz
c. Prefetch – 8n
d. Data Rate – 1066-1600 MT/s
e. Transfer Rate – 8.5-14.9 GB/s
f. Voltage – 1.35/1.5 V
In this way we can say that DDR3 is the next improvement of DDR2 card.
