What are avast system restriction for Outlook email?

Our IT department recently installed the latest free edition of Avast 2012. Since then I've encountered delays in receiving emails. Sometimes I don't even receive emails for hours. Our IT department is so busy that it takes them more than a week to address such issues. I want to know if there are avast system restrictions for Outlook incoming mails.

Thanks.

The problem with the AVAST Antivirus is that when your IT Department installed the antivirus, Google Chrome is set as default browser, and pinned to your task bar, you need to re-install the Google chrome.

If still doesn't work, try go to Control Panel then Default Programs then Set Program Access and Computer Defaults. Make sure Outlook is set to default.

If the latter will still not work, then try consulting your IT department to re-install Avast completely , if you encountered problems in re-installing, run uninstall tool in Safe Mode, just press F8 ,and then make an installation from scratch and do not install Chrome.

Avast antivirus blocks email to receive in an outlook mail application if the incoming mail if infected with viruses. So it is good for you. Your mail may not contain viruses but viruses may try to enter though the connection path. So that time mail does not enter into your Inbox. Whenever it is virus free, the email enters into your mailbox.

You may check avast activity clicking on real time shields after opening avast program.

Hi there,

You can solve it in two ways (as far I know). First one is:

In outlook express it scans for every email using security protocol SSL/TLS. So that SMTP server reports an error. The server also generates another error: 421. So SMPT cannot connect to the server. That is why you do not get email as before. Now you just disable the SSL/TLS in outlook the problem should be solved.

Second one is:

Open Avast and follow the steps:

  1. Open settings.
  2. Click troubleshooting.
  3. Click Redirect Settings
  4. Clear all the ports
  5. Check Ignore local communication
  6. Just finish it by clicking OK.

Your problem would not arise again.

Thank you,

Riley weaver.
