Hi All,

I thought installing VMware in Feisty fawn is easy to handle compared in my other operating system which is Windows XP service pack 2. As I start the VMware gives an update pointing the kernel header 2.6.38-10-generic were not found. As click refresh button nothing happens. I’d Click Browse button with no idea locating that kind of file. Can someone out there guide me with these VMware Kernel? Thank you Techyv.

VMware message:

VMware Kernel Module Updater

Before you can run VMware, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel.

Kernel Headers 2.6.38-10-generic

Kernel headers for version 2.6.38-10-generic were not found. If you installed them in a non-default path you can specify the path below. Otherwise refer to your distribution’s documentation for installation instructions and click Refresh to search again in default locations.

Hello Oliverio,

There should be modules that have to be installed so that the VMware kernel updater can work properly, and therefore you will need to look for them and install them.

In the documentation that you have for the installation of the VMware kernel updater, you should be able to know which kind of modules are needed for the application to work, and in case you do not have the documentation yet you will need to look for it online. Just check out which modules are missing and then look for them online, download them and install them.

Hope this helps.
