Videos are choppy and don’t play continuously in Youtube

I've been trying to play videos on YouTube using Mozilla Firefox, but the videos appeared to be choppy or it didn't play continuously. It stopped and started while I was watching the video. I have a high speed internet connection and I have not encountered problems like this with YouTube in the past. Please help me out.

Downloading the latest version of Flash player will help a little, but the most common cause of poor performance is excessive traffic. Not something under your control. Try pausing the video and let it "buffer," i.e. Download a little of the video to your local temp files first. Then press play and you should have a smoother experience.
