Hi Regularly I find the following error message when I am trying to check out or open drawings from the Vault.

What should I need to do to solve this?

I am not sure but maybe it is the Vault setting problem or maybe a software installation problem. Please help me.

I am using MEP 2012.

Open Drawing- Errors Found

One error was found in the drawing file during open. Would you like to cancel this open?

It is recommended you cancel the open and then run the RECOVER command on the drawing file.

Yes No

Thanks.

Vault setting problem – Looking for Help

Hi,

The cause of this  issue could be The Block Editor or the transferring of dependent files of the drawing from one directory to the other.

If you encounter this error when opening a drawing in MEP that has blocks on it then that should be the cause of it.

MEP 2012 has already addressed this issue with a hot fix. Please download it here.
I hope this helps

The full error reads “[number] errors were found in the drawing file during open”. This can happen when you try to open a drawing in AutoCAD or when you start the program and it opens the default template to a blank new file.

Open drawing error in AutoCAD
Open drawing error in AutoCAD

Possible causes include:

  • Corrupted drawing file
  • Faulty AutoCAD installation
  • Xrefs which are not included in the project are attached to the file for AutoCAD Plant 3D and P&ID

To fix the problem, make sure you are using an administrator account when running AutoCAD. If you are already using an admin account but you still see the error, try using the “Run as” option. Right-click Autodesk AutoCAD and select “Run as administrator” to grant full administrative privileges to the application. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, try to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Visual C++.

Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable among the applications and click “Uninstall”. If you have more than one version of Microsoft Visual C++, select the first one and uninstall the other one later. Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later.

When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then restart the computer. After booting, repeat the same steps to uninstall the other Microsoft Visual C++.

When all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ are removed, install them back one at a time then restart the computer after each installation. See if this works. If the problem continues, go to How to repair corrupt AutoCAD files to try repairing the drawing file.

In the case of AutoCAD Plant 3D and P&ID files with xrefs, add the xref files to the project and then run AUDITPROJECT and PLANTAUDIT to correct any errors.
