Will I get the Windows Consumer Preview through Windows update or through ISO?

Upgrading to Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Well you cannot update to Windows 8 consumer preview using the Windows Update. Windows Update is just used for updating files of your current version of windows. To update to Windows 8 consumer preview you can either:

1. Get a copy of Windows 8 and install it.
2. Make an iso image of the file on a CD/DVD and install it in your computer/laptop
3. Make a usb flash drive bootable first by the iso image of the Windows 8 consumer preview.

My personal advice to you would be not install the Windows 8 consumer preview for the reason that it is not a complete windows. Wait for the complete package to release, and what is released then install that 🙂

No, windows update will not redirect you to windows 8. update is used only for updating your windows version. Thanks.
