Avira Anti-Virus: Update of the VDF update kit failed

Hi!

I am back home from a group study, I borrowed a couple of flash drives from my friend to copy some files to my computer. When I copied the files, my Avira Antivirus keeps on warning me of some virus, but it cannot remove the virus, so I decided to update the virus definition, an error message appeared while starting the process of an update.

I pasted below the screen shot of the error.

Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus
Update of the VDF update kit failed.

As I looked on the error it seemed that Avira malfunctioned, since it cannot update its definition.

So I removed and re-installed Avira.

When I was done installing Avira, I tried to update its definition, but same error message was displayed.

Please help me find a solution to my Avira problem.

Thanks a lot.

Please go through this link to fix the issue and download in somewhere.

1. Double – click on mbam-setup.exe and follow the steps to install the program.

2. At the end, make sure that the checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and then click Finish.

3. If you find an update, you can download and install the latest version.

4. Once the program has loaded, click the Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

5. When the scan is completed, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

6. Please make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

When completed, a log will open in Notepad.

Please save it to a convenient location, and post the scan log here.

Here is a method that  I hope could help you.

First download the Virus Definition File at this site in unicode version on your desktop. After downloading, open the Avira by double clicking it on the red umbrella near the clock. Open the menu of update and select manual update. From there locate the downloaded file and open it. Wait now for the procedure to be completed. After completion, the downloaded file will no longer be useful.

Therefore you can delete it and you can now go back to your previous activities.

I hope this could help you.
