Hello Wesley,

That error occurs when the disk has too many scratches. To resolve it, you will need to do the following:

  • Open Nero Burning ROM
  • And then choose the Copy Disc option.
  • After that go to read options.
  • You will need to the read value to be higher than 1.

"UNRECOVERED READ ERROR (031100)"  means that either the CD you are trying to write to or the one you're trying to copy to has a bad spot which interrupts the burning process. Try the following:

1. Try to copy the CD on another computer. If it succeeds, then the cause might also be that your DVD drive is failing.

2. Try to copy another CD. If it succeeds, then the Windows XP CD might be damaged or scratched. In that case, download nad run "DVDInfoPro" trial by clicking here and running a "CRC check" on the CD.

If the CRC check fails, then the media is damaged.
