I thought the soundcard update is really the one giving this error which is in fact a different program causes the error to appear. If you recently updated the driver for your soundcard when the error appeared, then the update might have damaged the configuration of a particular program. The MOTU ASIO driver is used by the program Digital Performer and it is the one in error not the soundcard.

First, make sure you really installed the latest driver for your soundcard. Visit the official website of your device and download the latest version manually instead of updating it from the Device Manager. Once the latest driver is installed, reinstall Digital Performer to restore the entire settings. Try it again and see if it works.

In case you are using an old version, try upgrading to the latest version, Digital Performer 8. For Windows, it works on Windows 7 and higher both x86 and x64. For Mac, it supports Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and higher. In case you still have a problem with the soundcard, you can download the MOTU Universal Audio Installer. This audio installer supports Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
