I am using MS Office 2010 at my home, but I made my curriculum vitae in my office. There the version was bit older I think 97 or 2000. And now when I try to open that file at my home PC it shows that it is been corrupted and shows some other language and asking to convert the file.

There can be one of the few issues regarding your problem.

First thing is, your document may be in your office computer for long, and data in that drive may be infected by viruses, and that have corrupted your file data.

To resolve this issue, you can try one of the following ways.

  • First, try to repair that document. You can do that from this website, or you can try software from some different site. You can search that on Google.
  • Second option is to remove that data from your office PC, and try to recover that data using some 'data recovery software'  you can easily find on internet.

Hope one of these options will solve your problem.

  • Go to file menu and click open.
  • A dialog box will open. Now select the will you want to open and select the option “open and repair”

Wait while the program attempts to repair the file.

You can also use my Word utility to your system which is a repairing utility for Microsoft Word files.
