Asked By 40 points N/A Posted on -

Hi. I am using my LG Nexus 5 for few months now. It runs with Android 4.4 Kitkat and a great camera feature. Considering the fact that this is one of the latest phone from LG, I am quite disappointed since I am having issues on establishing my Wi-Fi connection. The connection will usually drops even if I am away for short distance from the router. How can I be able to resolve this? Regards.

Unable to Establish Wi-Fi Connection on LG Nexus 5

Below are different options that you can explore to resolve your problem on Wi-Fi connection:
Option 1:  Press Airplane Mode then switch it off. Toggle the Wi-Fi. Check of WI-Fi is connected.
Option 2: Check if Wifi router is secure; Read an updated guide on WiFi router’s firmware. A web site can provide with manual.
Option 3: Unplug the router of WI-Fi within 15 seconds, then plug again to refresh the connection.
Option 4: Invoke Forget in the Settings. This can be accessed thru Wireless and Networks, then Wi-Fi then Select Your Network Name. Wait for 15 seconds and connect the network again. Know your password if needed.
Option 5: Choose 2,4 GHz or 5 GHz under the settings, which you can access via Wireless and networks menu, then Wi-Fi, then Menu key, then Advanced, then we-Fi frequency band. Uncheck the Avoid poor connections to prevent disconnection of the wireless radio when we-Fi has low signal.
Option 6: Install the Wi-Fi Analyser app to check if the crowded channel causes the problem.
Option 7: Reboot the Nexus 5 to refresh the entire system.
If all these did not work, coordinate with the service center.

Unable to Establish Wi-Fi Connection on LG Nexus 5

The LG Nexus 5 is a 4G Smartphone operating on 2G, 3G, and 4G network bands using GSM, CDMA, HSPA, and LTE technologies. It was announced to the public on October 2013 and released on November 2013 measuring 137.9 x 69.2 x 8.6 millimeters and weighing 130 grams. It uses micro-SIM card and built with a plastic body.

It has True HD IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colors at 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution. It supports multi-touch protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow powered by Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Krait 400 processor, and Adreno 330 GPU. It doesn’t support microSD.

It runs on 2 GB RAM with internal storage available in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities. The primary camera supports 8 megapixels with f/2.4, 30mm, 1/3.2″, 1.4 µm, OIS, LED flash, and autofocus featuring geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, HDR, and face and smile detection. It supports 1080p video recording at 30 fps. The secondary camera supports 1.3 megapixels with f/2.4, 1/6″, and 1.9 µm.

It has 3.5-millimeter jack with active noise cancellation with dedicated mic; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and hotspot support; Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP support; GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS support; NFC; and microUSB 2.0 SlimPort with USB Host support. It doesn’t have stereo FM radio. It has built-in accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer sensors. The pre-installed web browser supports HTML5.

It runs on non-removable Li-Po 2300 mAh battery with standby time up to 300 hours on 3G and talk time up to 17 hours on 3G. It is available in black, white, and red colors. Now, for the Wi-Fi, you cannot go beyond the range of the Wi-Fi router because the Wi-Fi signal gets weaker and weaker.

Expect a very unstable connection if you are too far from the router. One workaround is to change the width of your channel. Depending on the router you are using, you can change the width of your Wi-Fi channel between 20 MHz and 40 MHz. 40 MHz width is like 50 feet away from the router more or less.

Just log in to your Wi-Fi router and change this setting. This should extend the area of coverage of your Wi-Fi signal.
