I am trying to convert a few Microsoft Word documents into .PDF files on a Vista machine. This is a usual process that I try to follow and now this keeps coming up with an error message.

Below is the message that I get, every time I try to convert the document file to .PDF.

Adobe Reader

There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found.

I follow the normal procedure of selecting the set of documents and start the conversion. It starts and finishes it but when I try to open the .PDF file it comes up with this error message.

This happens at times even when I try to open any .PDF attachment from my Chrome web browser.

Does this have a solution?

Hello Mary,

Yes, there is a solution for this.

First of all, I will suggest you to please check your conversion software.  May be there is a problem with it and because of that problem, the file gives an error. You should download or install it again in your computer and make sure that the software is an original one because some times, this thing happens because of fake and illegal software.

Secondly, I will recommend that you also open that file from the browser other than Google Chrome as there could be a problem with the browser and that browser is not able to support that file or may be there is a settings problem with the browser. So, you can also open that file in Mozilla Firefox. It will helps you a lot to narrow down on the cause.

Thanks.

Hay Mary White,

This error is quite common and may be the popped up, when, you are going to opening any PDF file using some web browser like Firefox or Chrome.

There might be space added in the filename or path of the file which referred to adobe acrobat reader and there is parsing problem for it.

Please try to correct the given path and again try to open this PDF file. Secondly there are some issues related to association of Adobe Acrobat reader with Firefox. Try to install some other PDF reader.

Have a good day.

It seems that the file you are trying to open has been moved or removed from it original location. Sometimes we make shortcuts of important files. So when we need to open that file we just double click the shortcut not the original file. So that here maybe your original file has been moved to another location. Or you are trying to paste wrong location for this file in reader. And also, try to clean your Cache, Temp Internet Files and %Temp files on your Google Chrome.

I hope it will helpful for you.

Thanks
