Hi all,

I am having an apple iPhone 5S and iPad Mini Retina Display through Verizon. Both are doing great work!

The only issue I am having now is that the text messages which are coming to my iPhone are not coming into my iPad. It use to come before, but recently I have changed some settings it seems but couldn't recollect what I have caused this issue.

Did anybody faced this issue before? Any help in this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

Hello Franklin,

The Basic of Receiving a message in all Apple related product is to have same Apple ID. You have to go to the setting of both iPhone and iPad and check whether they have the same Apple ID. Also both device should have your number updated in send and receive.

Explanation: When you send a message to an Apple ID, it routes the message through the Apple Server and not by the carrier.

The SMS or text messages will not show up on your iPad if Continuity is disabled. Continuity must be turned on in your iPhone as well as the Text Message forwarding. To enable SMS relay across your devices, your iPhone must be running on iOS 8.1 including an active carrier plan.

Any Mac that runs on OS X Yosemite and any iPad running on iOS 8.1 will be able to receive and respond to text messages via Continuity. To enable this SMS relay, first, make sure all your devices are logged in to the same Apple ID. To do this, on your iPhone, go to “Settings”, “Messages” then “Send & Receive” to check which Apple ID is being used.

Make sure both your phone number and Apple ID email address are checked. Repeat this check on your iPad. Once you verify that both devices are using the same credentials, go back to your iPhone then go to “Settings”, “Messages” then “Text Message Forwarding”. You should see a list of devices that uses the same Apple ID.

Tap the slider for your iPad to “ON” (green position) to enable SMS relay. After this, a four digit code will appear on your iPad’s screen. Enter that code on your iPhone to verify. You should then see a confirmation that you added the device successfully. And that’s it.
