Can anyone help me find the reason why the tape library TAPMLB01 in one of my system goes on and off at IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)? I did not encounter any issue similar to this with other system. What should I do? Please help me.
Have you checked the tape library properly? There might be a chance that the reading head is not functioning properly in the first system and giving you the error whereas in the other system it is working fine. There might be a possibility that the software in the first system might have corrupted somehow.
Since you have two devices, you can do the following things. using the wrkhdwrsc*stg command you can configure this tape and then create a new tape based on the previous tape description. It is like creating a copy. Also have a look at the SST and inspect it properly to make sure everything is right.
If it is not working then delete all the available descriptions and ipl cards where your two devices are connected with each other. After doing all of the steps mentioned you will be able to use them no matter in what manner.
