Hi,

I have recently switched from Firefox to opera.

Something that I am struggling with is the use of Notscript in opera.

I would really appreciate if anyone tells me about a good Notscript for opera.

Hi Mamujtaba,

I think Noscript is one of the most useful add-ons in Mozilla Firefox.

Here are two choices for you to choose from that will provide you with the same functionality:

add-ons in Mozilla Firefox

1) NotScripts: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/notscripts/

It provides Noscript like functionality with a very easy user interface. It blocks both third party scripts and inline scripts.

It can be configured to block all scripts, allow it all, or block all with some exceptions. However the add-on requires Opera 11.10 or up for it to work.

Noscript is one of the most useful add-ons

2) BlockIt: https://forums.opera.com

This tool that was released on the opera forums by its developer will also provide you with the same functionality and also can be used for older version of Opera.

NotScripts was a free, open source extension, add-on, or plug-in for web browsers like Opera, Google Chrome, and other Chromium-based browsers. This extension blocks the execution of Silverlight, JavaScript, Flash, Java, and other plug-ins and scripted contents. It implements a whitelist that allows the execution of scripts from particular websites. Unfortunately, the developer abandoned the development of NotScripts and was removed from the Chrome Extension store in September 2014.

According to Martin Brinkmann of Ghacks, this is the first extension or plug-in that brings some of the functionality of NoScript to Chrome. He also compared it to Firefox’s NoScript which offers an additional XSS protection or cross-site scripting protection. When NotScripts was abandoned by its developer, it was picked up by another developer and continued its development under the name “ScriptBlock”.

If you are looking for this extension in Opera, it is actually available for the Opera browser. Go to NotScripts Extension for Opera to download and install. But to use this extension in Opera, you need to use Opera 11 or 12. It will not work on higher versions unfortunately. Another same extension you can try is NoScript Suite Lite.
