In order to install framework 2.0 for Windows 8, you need to install Framework 3.5 which includes framework 2. also. To install it-

  1. Insert the Windows 8 DVD or iso image and then go to the source folder sxs where it is stored which you can find in the drive in which Windows 8 Media is stored
  2. Then you need to open an elevated command prompt
  3. Then execute command

dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:”E:\sources\sxs” /LimitAccess

  1. Hit enter and let the process complete

This is how you install it.

The best way to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is to install the latest version of .NET Framework that includes this version. Download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. It includes Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2, and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.

You can download it though I’m not sure if it’ll work on your computer because it is not designed for Windows 8. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. If you need a .NET Framework that will work on Microsoft Windows 8, you can install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1.

It supports Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, and Windows Server 2012. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 works alongside Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and earlier versions but replaces Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.
