Hello TechyV buddies!

I am having some problem connecting to Oracle database using OLEDB with MSORA as connection type. I get this error every time I connect o it:

"the Oracle registry key cannot be opened".

I am running windows 7 pro 32 bit with SSIS 08R2 enterprises and oracle 32 bit clients. And I also have TOAD installed that can connect to tnsnames and full connections trings. All of these are running locally in my computer. Can anyone explain to me why have I encountered that error? Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Otis,

If you were able to install the Oracle database successfully then I doubt if the error might be due to compatibility issues. I will suggest that you check the settings of the database, and if you might have configured the setting incorrectly during installation you might need to redo the process.

Regards,

Nicke

Hello Otis,

You need to install the 32-bit Oracle client as you said, you are running windows 7 pro 32 bit. Before that, you need to verify that, you have the following registry key in your machine – "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREORACLEOracleClientHome". If not, please reinstall the Oracle client for 32 bit operating system. Don’t forget to use admin account and restart machine after installation.

Have a great day.

Paul Jolie.
