From what I researched, most people say "Apple just makes things pretty and then doubles the price". I do know however that they scraped hardware parts from the PC world into laptops making them unique such as their OS in favor of UNIX, hardware for Intel chips, their original GUI was stolen from Xerox and the mouse was stolen from Zenith.
And I do know for a fact that Palm has been using touch screens on phones for years now and Apple is not exactly innovative, they just took some really good stuff, put it all together and promoted it so much that it became very popular.
The best thing about Apple is their customer service.It's fast and helpful, unlike many others.But for example, on Dell or HP or a basic PC, if you want to burn a CD/DVD, you just have to choose a program to work with. In Apple , you just have to choose how much you're willing to pay, $59.99 or $69.99.
As for prices, I already told you. They're very expensive in comparison to others, and if you think about it, it's a smart way of making money in the long run. You can't blame Apple, you either turn your head and work with something else, or you go into the crowd and become one of them.
