For reference, I want to know what are the difference and similarities of Windows Desktop and Mobile OS. Can I run applications in Windows Desktop to my Windows Mobile OS? What kind of devices uses Windows Mobile OS? Any advice and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!
Similarities and Differences with Windows Desktop and Mobile OS
Basically both the Windows desktop and Windows Mobile OS look almost alike. But the there is huge differences between its performance & features.
You can say Windows Mobile OS is the mini version of Windows desktop having some basic features similar to desktop. All the applications which run is desktop are not compatible with the mobile version.
A desktop is combined with much powerful hardware whereas a mobile is not as much powerful as desktop. So, the Windows for desktop versions are made with various complicated and huge softwares to run this powerful heavy machine.
So, some applications of desktop are compatible in windows mobile because those are especially modified for the Windows Mobile OS like MS Office, media player, .NET Compact Framework, internet explorer etc. Many smartphones, PDA as well as tablets use Windows Mobile OS.
