Hi,
My SIL Software installer failed on disk 5, see my error message below. Â
I am not that techie and a friend told me about this website where experts might provide me help or a step by step procedure on how to resolve this problem. Â

SIL Software Update Disk 5 Installation – Error
Could not successfully install Windows Installer 2.0.
The installation cannot continue.
SIL software installation failed at disk 5
Microsoft Windows Installer is a component of Windows operating system that provides a standard foundation for installing and uninstalling software. The SIL Software you are installing is trying to install Windows Installer 2.0. I don’t know if the setup wizard has the Windows Installer 2.0 and just failed to install it or the process is looking for the Windows Installer 2.0 installed on your system. Which of the 2 reasons is true, the process failed because your computer doesn’t have Windows Installer installed on it. There is a much updated version of Windows Installer that is already available in Microsoft’s website, Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable v2 (3.1.4000.2435), which was last reviewed on September 22, 2011 – Revision 8.0 and can be downloaded at Download Link.
Windows Installer 3.1 v2 is available for the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3

Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

Windows XP
-
Windows XP Service Pack 1
-
Windows XP Service Pack 2
-
Windows Server 2003
After installing this update try installing SIL Software again.
