I have a WiFi modem router. I usually leave them on at night when I sleep so that I won't need to turn it on again when I need to access the Internet in the morning when I'm still drowsy on my bed.
Will my router's life shorten or will it break if I don't turn it off. How should I maintain my device?

Should I turn my wifi router off
Hi Putong Puti,
Leaving on your router all the time, will not cause your router to be damaged. Routers have been designed so that they can withstand staying on 24/7, similarly to how a computer can stay on 24/7 for a number of days.
That being the case, routers crash just like computers though rarely. So it is still advisable to give your router a rest ever so often but turning it on and off every night is not necessary. If you are thinking that turning your router on and off every night will save you money when it comes to billing, then yes that is true though what you save is hardly anything at all. In the end it all comes down to preference, if you are willing to turn your router on and off every night that is up to you, but you can be rest assured that no harm will come to your router from leaving it on 24/7.

Should I turn my wifi router off
Modem and router are built and withstand to last long without turning it off. This ensure continuous Internet usage 24/7, allowing their customer to enjoy the service they are paying. But all equipment, appliances needs to take some rest, and it has to be shutdown for maintenance.
Imagine your TV is turn on all night 24/7? It may last long but surely, it'll probably blown out due to either static electricity, sudden storm, lightning strike and sudden power outage.
The same applies to the modem/router, it has to be turned of as best practice if you are not using, not unless if the modem you have is also an MTA. MTA is a device designed to work as phone, this called MTA modem for digital phone.
