For sure you can be able to install the older version of the ms office program alongside the latest version ms office 2007. You will just need to obtain installation discs that have the application and install them one at a time, or alternatively obtain the setup application for each of them and run them one at a time.

Once you have installed them, you thereafter create the shortcut for each of them by:

  • Going to start on your computer
  • And then click on all programs.
  • Locate the ms office folder and expand it.
  • You will then need to choose the selected applications that you want their shortcuts to appear on the desktop and then right click on them and then choose create shortcut.

Yes, it is very possible. You can install and use multiple versions of Microsoft Office suites but the installation needs to be done properly because if not you will surely experience problems with the programs. But for me, installing multiple versions of Microsoft Office is only a waste of space.

You see, all functions and capabilities of the older version are already available and supported in the newer version but latest features and functions available in the newer version are not supported and available in the old version. Anyway, if you still want to install multiple versions of Microsoft Office suites, here’s how it should be done.

When installing multiple versions of Microsoft Office, it should be done in the correct order. The first version you should install is the oldest version. So, for example, if you have Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007, you need to install Microsoft Office 2003 first followed by Microsoft Office 2007.

This is required because of the manner registry keys, file name extensions, shared programs, and other settings are handled for each version of Microsoft Office as well as the applications included in each version. Another possible problem you might encounter is with Microsoft Office Outlook. You cannot install and run multiple versions of Microsoft Office Outlook.

If you installed Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 will automatically be removed even if you check the option “Keep these programs” in the Removing Previous Versions dialog box. Additionally when installing multiple versions, make sure not to mix 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Office suites.
