Hi!

I just want to know if there’s a way that I can setup my PlayStation 2 and communicate with my Cisco Linksys WRT54G.

I want to know more about the setup in the router itself and all the required cables needed.

Thanks.

Hi. Yes you can most definitely connect a PlayStation 2 to your Linksys router. Here is a step by step:

1. You need to ensure that you have a properly installed network adapter on you PS2. Please refer to the device’s documentation.

2. You will need a straight CAT5 Ethernet cable. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to one of the numbered ports on the router and the other end to the PlayStation 2’s Ethernet port.

3. Assign a static IP address to your PlayStation 2 for example we will use the following settings on the PlayStation 2:

IP Address: 192.168.1.20
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

4. Access the router’s web-based setup page. Click Applications & Gaming then select DMZ. Select Enabled then under Destination enter the PlayStation's static IP address (192.168.1.20 in this example).

5. Save the settings.

You are good to go!
