How do I back up and restore (in case of reinstalling the wlan adapter driver) or transfer (in case of switching wlan adapters or laptops) WLAN profiles?

Hey Carolyn1830

  1. On your taskbar click on WiFi Icon and Go to Open Network and Sharing Center
  2. Click on Manage wireless networks
  3. Right-click on the network you want to backup and click on properties.
  4. Then click on the option at the bottom Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive
  5. You will be asked to insert a USB flash drive and you can save it
  6. You can use the USB drive in any other computer by opening setupSNK.exe file to import settings

Good  Luck!!

Hi Carolyn,

You will get stored WLAN "passwords" from windows 7 by taking following step:

First click on the taskbar on the WiFi Network Icon.

Second please right button click on your wireless network connection and click the “Properties”.

Third click on “Security” tab in the Wireless Network Properties.

Then you will see the Network Security Key that you entered during setup of WiFi Network.

Fourth But it will not be readable format. Then check the box “Show Characters” to make the password readable.

To back up and restore your WLAN profile takes following step:

  • First open the control panel then click on Network and Sharing Center icon.
  • Click on the Manage wireless networks link which in left blue pane.
  • You have to double click on the wireless network.
  • Then you must click on the link of Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive.
  • Connect your USB driver and complete your back up copy
  • If  you want to restore then connect that USB driver to your computer and set up those file which taken for back up.

Thanks.
