I have this Seagate External HDD with 500GB capacity. I have used around 450GB on that and when I try to connect it to my computer, it connects in the beginning and opens the window to browse but when I click on any file, it gets disconnected and reconnects automatically. Unable to figure our the exact issue, I need help to back up this data and format the hard disk. I scanned it with avast antivirus and no errors found. Please provide a solution.

Hi,

The issue you are facing might be caused for several reasons. Follow the instructions below step by step:

– Check your computer's and HDD's USB port is working correctly. You can check it by connecting other USB cable, or connecting to a  different port.
– Check your USB cable that you use to connect your external drive is OK.

If you find a problem with any of these, you have to change the problematic one.

If those things are all right, try defragment from Windows disk options.
