I keep on getting the following error message, whenever I try to scan a negative by using my Canoscan 3000F – I don't have the film guide for that scanner. I bought this second handed but could that be the problem?

Cannot scan for these reasons:

–          The original may not be set correctly.

–          The Film Adaptor Unit Protective Sheet may be put in place.

–          The lamp may be not warmed up.

(It needs a few minutes for adjusting lamp on low temperature.)

Scanner driver will be closed

Locate the slide holder, there is an empty space separated  with a 2×2 spaces, ensure that, that space is clear and then try to scan again. If this not work, perform a level scan on the toolbox and see if it will fix the issue. And also, unplug the scanner and then plug it back after few minutes and try to scan again.
