I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S III. The specs says that the S III is one of the first phones to utilize Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
The Corning Gorilla Glass 2 according to their website corninggorillaglass.com is 20 percent thinner than its predecessor.
How would this reduction in thickness affect the new Samsung Galaxy S III's ability to resist massive impacts?

Samsung Galaxy SIII is definitely a hit!!! Everyone is asking about it.. the specifications, how it looks, the hardware, etc… Of course when you have a thing that is expensive you take care of it so much. Corning Gorilla Glass 2 lessens the scratch, resists breakage from flexing and a little with the impact, but it all depends on how you use it. We all use screen protectors and cases for our phones anyway.. 🙂

Hello,
Samsung Galaxy S III indeed has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 which is 20% thinner than the earlier one. This reduction in thickness is done without compromising on its toughness to resist scratch and tempering.
The reduction thickness will not affect its toughness but will provide more space inside the phone to accommodate a battery with longer life and at the same time will improve the sensitivity of the touch screen to a great extent. Thinner glass has also contributed to reduction in it's weight. But again as far as the toughness is concerned, this is a thinner glass with same toughness and ability to resist massive impacts.
Hope this helped you.
