I would like to know if you can help me with repairing the power supply of my desktop. I want to know step by step procedure on how to install/repair it, so that I can just do it by myself.

Could you also help me understand what a power supply is and what is the importance of this equipment in my desktop. I can see different connectors in a power supply and I want to know where I need to connect them, so that I can use the CPU without me asking any help from an IT.

This is one of the easiest and cheapest thing to do on your desktop. As long as you are ready and willing to open your PC, it is a very easy thing to do. While opening just like any other electric device, you must be careful to avoid getting shocked.

It is advisable to use a plastic handle screw driver during this repair. Test whether there is any power going inside, because this is a reason enough to replace the power supply. Ensure you have the right power supply to replace with before you start. Turn off your computer and have the covers removed.

Putting the new power supply into place and tighten the screws, that will ensure it is kept tightly into place, by removing the old one which is usually located on the back of the case. Then plug in the power and switch your computer on and continue with your work.
