Hey there, as far as I know about this error, this is happening due to the usage of something called ‘InstallShield’ application, while MS office is being installed.
Here are the few things you can look for:

1. Check if your system has the latest version of ‘Install Shield’. If not, upgrade it. If not installed, install it.

2. Remember always, while installing you must click on Setup file and not another variant present called MSI file. It can also cause the errors stated above.

3. Clean your registry from time to time. Invalid entries make installing the program prone to errors.

4. Refer this Microsoft’s official manual for the instructions if the problem persists.

Hope it helps!

The cause of this error is basically about missing files. If you are installing a program on your computer then “error 1706” suddenly appears its cause is related to missing files. If you are installing Microsoft Office from a CD or DVD then this error appeared, check the connection of the drive. Shut down your computer then open the CPU case.

Disconnect both the ribbon cable and power supply cable from the optical drive. After this, connect the ribbon cable or data cable back to the drive. For the power supply, use or connect the other power supply cable to the drive. Start your computer then try installing from the disc again. See if this works. If you are installing from a network drive, check your connection.

It is possible that the location of the installer is no longer available to you. If you are going to install a program from a network drive, the best way to do it is to copy the installer to your local hard drive and run the installer from there. This way you are sure that all files needed for the installation are available.
